Guwahati: In a bid to tackle the price rise of essential items, an Enforcement team has been set up to visit the major markets across Guwahati, announced Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

The team will be led by the Executive Magistrate of the respective areas to monitor the price rise of essential items.

Dass held a meeting with Chambers of Commerce at the Deputy Commissioners office on Tuesday in connection to it.

Ranjeet Das Tweeted on his Twitter handle, “The households & businesses must not suffer. An Enforcement Team has been set up to personally visit major markets in Greater Guwahati, Kamrup(M) to monitor Price Rise of essential commodities, to work under the ambit of Executive Magistrate of the respective areas.”

Notably, the sudden concern from Ranjeet Dass came after his visit from Pathsala, where reportedly, he had seen a huge gap of prices in wholesale and retail sales in the market.
