Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the government would construct the Thekerakuchi-Kanhibari road, dedicated after martyred Suman Swargiary.

On Wednesday, Assam CM Sarma met the bereaved family of Suman Swargiary. Swargiary was an Assam Rifles jawan martyred in Manipur on November 13. Sarma paid tributes to the deceased jawan for his supreme sacrifice.

Additionally, Sarma posted a tweet and announced that the government had offered Rs. 50 lakh as ex gratia to the family. Moreover, Sarma said a stadium would be constructed at Hirimba Bodo High School, where the martyred Assam Rifles jawan studied.

"Offered Rs 50 lakh as ex gratia to the family. Also, in honour of his supreme sacrifice, our Govt will construct Thekerakuchi-Kanhibari road to be dedicated in his name. A stadium will be constructed at Hirimba Bodo High School where the martyred Assam Rifles jawan studied," Sarma tweeted.

Moreover, Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta, senior police personnel, and administration officials paid tributes to the mortal remains of the martyred soldier on Tuesday.

Swargiary was one of seven individuals killed in the ambush in Manipur's Churachandpur district on Saturday, including the wife and 8-year-old son of an Assam Rifles commanding officer.
