Guwahati: One more person has been arrested in connection to the Facebook post supporting the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, police said.

With this, the number of arrested people has increased to 16.

According to the police, the arrested man worked in a tyre shop in Jorabat area of Guwahati.

Earlier, fifteen people, including an Assam police constable, a student of Tezpur Medical College, a journalist and a senior leader of the State unit of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, were arrested from various districts of Assam on August 20 and 21 for posting pro-Taliban posts-old on Facebook.

All the arrested people have been booked under UAPA, IT Act and CrPC.
