Digital Desk: Today a team of Assam Police reached the Delhi residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera for questioning in connection with a case linked to allegations made against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family.
Upon arrival, the team formally informed the Delhi Police, following which a local police unit joined and assisted in the proceedings.
Speaking to reporters outside the residence, Assam Police DCP Debojit Nath said that Khera was not found at his residence. However, a search operation was carried out, during which electronic devices were seized. He added that some “incriminating material” had been recovered, but further details could not be disclosed at this stage.
The case has been registered at the Crime Branch Police Station in Guwahati, the DCP confirmed. He further stated that Khera’s whereabouts are currently unknown, but he will be traced.
Meanwhile, on Monday, 6th April, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused the Congress party of running a “foreign-influenced misinformation campaign” against him and his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections. He also alleged that the “serious allegations” made by Khera had links to Pakistan.
