Digital Desk: On May 2, Raijor Dal Vice President Kamal Kumar Medhi, along with five other members of the regional party, jumped ship and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Aside from Raijor Dal members, other Congress leaders have quit the Grand Old Party and joined the AAP.

Manoj Dhanowar and Dwijen Gogoi, both from the Congress, joined the AAP in the presence of the party's National Secretary Pankaj Gupta.

Members who left the Raijor Dal to join the AAP include Jitul Deka, Anurupa Dekaroja, Binoy Deka, Dipankar Kalita, and Dibyajyoti Deka. On May 2, at 7 p.m., the newly inducted members will meet with AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party is attempting to grow its influence across India and present a genuine alternative to the Congress, which is on the decline.

Their recent landslide victory in the Punjab Assembly elections has given their pan-India ambitions a tremendous boost. It's no different in Assam, where the party is working to increase its base and replace the Congress as the state's main opposition party. Following the recent results of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation elections, when it managed to take one ward, the party is riding high on confidence. The Raijor Dal is an Indian political party located in the state of Assam, founded on October 2, 2020, by activist turned politician Akhil Gogoi.

The party's foundation came after more than 15 years of fight by its parent mass organisation, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), for land rights, farmer rights, environmental conservation, and the defence of the lives and livelihoods of Assamese workers. Progressive sub-nationalism is the party's professed political ideology, which encompasses federalism, equal rights, self-reliance, and scientific temper.
