Digital Desk: The Etah district of Uttar Pradesh is famed for its artisans, who receive orders for Ram temple Ashtadhatu bells from all around the country and overseas. These bells are made in nearly 300 factories in Etah’s Jalesar. Etah’s craftspeople are particularly excited about one such order, a 2,100 kg ashtadhatu bell for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This bell stands at 6-feet tall and 5-feet in diameter. The Ashtadhatu bell, which costs Rs 21 lakh, is being prepared for the great temple at a factory owned by Vikas Mittal. The chairman of the Jalesar municipal corporation, Mittal, stated that this is the largest bell ever manufactured in India. He further claimed that the sound could be heard for up to 1-2 kilometers when the bell is rung. In addition to the 2,100 kg bell, the factory has also received orders for ten bells weighing 500, 250, and 100 kilograms for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. One of the artisans working on this order discussed the process of producing bells for a temple. According to the artisan, the first step begins with the preparation of brass with the combination of copper and zinc. The brass is then melted by being heated to 900 degrees Celsius. Further, it uses soil from Jalesar to create a bell-shaped mould; the melted brass is then put into the bell-shaped mould. After the bell takes its shape, it is polished and designed according to the requirement. Notably, the 2,100 kilograms bell consisted of five different materials, including gold, silver, and brass. Reportedly, the giant bell that will adorn the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is still being designed and polished. Three artists, Dau Dayal, Iqbal Bara, and Shamsuddin, have been specifically summoned from Delhi to finalize the bell’s design. All three artists come from generations of families that have worked in this field. Many artists at the factory in Jalesar have stated that they are willing to work for no pay to contribute to the great Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
