Digital Desk: On 27th August, a tragic hit-and-run incident, a first-semester  Engineering student of Baksa Polytechnic, Barnil Das, lost his life after being struck by a speeding Scorpio-N vehicle on Wednesday night around 9 PM. According to police, the vehicle that was involved in the accident did not remain at the scene.


The incident occurred on the Kadamtal-Nikashi connecting road near Mushalpur while Barnil was returning to his rented accommodation on foot after buying meat. . He was hit with such force that he died on the spot.


Barnil, a resident of Howly, in the Barpeta district had joined Baksa Polytechnic only two days ago Making this a devastating double tragedy for the family.


Barnil’s sudden demise has thrown the whole polytechnic into a state of mourning. Teachers , students and staff were devastated by the event as they recalled him as a good and promising student with a bright future.


Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the Scorpio-N vehicle involved in the incident.
