Digital Desk: In Bengaluru, a 30-year-old female architect jumped from a moving Rapido bike to escape a taxi driver who sexually harassed her and attempted to take her to the wrong destination.

According to a Times Now story, the woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, hired a Rapido bike to Indiranagar on April 21st at 11:10 p.m. The rider, who stole her phone under the guise of checking the OTP, instead went to Doddaballapura.

Despite the woman's repeated questions, the driver remained silent and continued driving at 60 kmph. The woman snatched her phone back after realizing the driver was inebriated. The man reclaimed her phone and groped her. The woman was able to call a friend for assistance before jumping off the fast bike near the BMS Institute of Technology and Management, hurting herself.
 
Accused identified and arrested

Following the incident, the cab aggregator did not contact the woman. Deepak Rao, a 27-year-old Tindlu resident, was confirmed as the driver. According to a senior police official, the accused was detained and charged with sexual harassment, kidnapping, assault, or criminal force against a woman with the goal to outrage her modesty and causing harm by acts risking the life or personal safety of others.
