A woman chased and captured a scooter thief using an auto-rickshaw. However, one of the thieves abandoned the stolen scooter and ran away from the scene.

Digital Desk: An Assam woman accomplished what police could not in Noonmati, Guwahati.

A woman chased and captured a scooter thief using an auto-rickshaw. However, one of the thieves abandoned the stolen scooter and ran away from the scene.

The incident took place at the Noonmati Marketing Petrol Pump under Noonmati Police Station in Guwahati city.

Notably, Manumati Kalita Patgiri, a resident of Mathgharia in Guwahati City, had her scooter bearing registration number AS-01-BQ-9489 stolen from her home premises last Saturday.

She filed a complaint regarding the same issue at Noonmati police station. But the police failed to take any action.

The woman conducted her investigation to recover her scooter independently.

She received an information on May 16 that two thieves were pushing her scooter towards the Noonmati Marketing Petrol Pump. Based on that information, the victim hired an auto-rickshaw and chased them to recover her scooter.

At the Marketing Petrol Pump in Noonmati, the woman captured one scooter thief, gave him a good beating, and handed him over to the police.

However, one thief managed to escape from the scene.

The arrested thief is Abdul Kadir Jilani, a resident of Forest Gate in Narengi.
