Digital Desk: A major OLX fraud case has come to light in Guwahati after a man was allegedly cheated while attempting to sell his Nikon Z6 II camera online.


According to police, on 6th May , Bikash Gogoi lodged a complaint stating that he had posted an advertisement on OLX to sell his Nikon Z6 II camera along with two lenses and other accessories. Soon after, a person contacted him expressing interest in purchasing the equipment.


As per mutual understanding, the meeting took place near Dwaraka Enclave at Dwarka Nagar under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police. During the meeting, the accused allegedly took the camera bag on the pretext of bringing payment from his flat and asked the complainant to wait.


However, the accused fled from the spot with the camera and accessories without returning.

Following an investigation, police traced and apprehended the accused along with another associate. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhijit Sarma, a resident of Odalbakra near Modern High School, and Bicky Singh of Paltanbazar Railway Colony.


During the operation, police recovered the stolen Nikon Z6 II camera, two lenses, accessories, one mobile phone, and cash amounting to Rs 36,000 from their possession.


Investigations further revealed that after committing the theft, Abhijit Sarma had allegedly sold the stolen camera and accessories to Bicky Singh for Rs 50,000. Police have initiated the necessary legal proceedings in connection with the case.
