Digital Desk: At the Commonwealth Games Birmingham on Saturday, Indian boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin easily advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the men's featherweight (57 kg) division.

Young Amzolele Dyeyi of South Africa was defeated by Hassamuddin, a bronze medalist from the most recent CWG in 2018, 5-0, in a unanimous decision.

Hassamuddin defeated his opponent by using his quick hands and deft movement.

The Indian stayed in shape from the beginning and prevented his opponent from taking the lead in any of the three rounds.

While the South African made every effort to frighten the seasoned Indian, Hassamuddin was able to prevent any opportunities for his competitor.

To advance to the quarterfinals, Hassamuddin must defeat Bangladeshi Md Salim Hossain in the following round.
