Digital Desk: In response to an increase in COVID-19 instances across India, the Meghalaya government has taken preventive measures.

The state has issued a health alert to its inhabitants, encouraging them to follow safety standards and be cautious throughout the holiday season.

This decision comes amid reports of growing infection rates, notably among people aged 18 to 44, in contrast to previous trends in which the elderly were more afflicted.

The health alert will almost certainly contain suggestions for the general public to take conventional COVID-19 measures including wearing masks, practicing hand hygiene, and maintaining social distance.

While the advisory does not go into specifics, it is reasonable to assume that the government is emphasising the importance of vaccination.

The common side effects of the COVID-19 vaccines include soreness at the injection site, tiredness, headaches, body aches, mild flu-like symptoms, nausea, and occasional vomiting.

Visitors planning to visit Meghalaya must register on the Meghalaya Tourism App and generate an E-Invite for their itinerary, a measure in effect since September 1, 2021, to ensure safe tourism in the middle of the epidemic.

Furthermore, the recent withdrawal of licencing for bivalent Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines in the United States implies that the state may be modifying its vaccine protocols in response to global trends and new evidence.

JN.1, the most recent COVID-19 variant, exhibits symptoms similar to prior variants, with many patients reporting sore throats as the first symptom, followed by congestion.
