Digital Desk: In a shocking daylight theft, miscreants looted around Rs2.5 lakh from a scooter at Barbari in Assam’s Baksa district. The incident took place at the busy Borbari weekly market, creating panic in that area.


As per report , the victim, Ramani Barman, a betel nut business person, had withdrawn the cash from the State Bank of India branch in Mushalpur. After parking his scooter (registration number AS-28-E-8599), he briefly went to a nearby shop for tea.


Taking advantage of the situation, two unidentified miscreants allegedly broke open the scooter’s lock and stole the cash from its storage compartment before fleeing the scene.


Following the incident, a complaint has been lodged at Barbari Police station. Police have launched an investigation and initiated a search operation to trace the culprits.
