Digital Desk: Today, a powerful storm accompanied by heavy rainfall has caused widespread devastation in the riverine  areas along the Brahmaputra in Bokakhat kamargaon. The sudden weather event has severely affected several villages in the northern parts of Dergaon, leaving residents in distress.

The storm unleashed a trail of destruction, disrupting normal life and causing significant damage to both private and public property. Large trees were uprooted and fell across roads, completely halting transportation in many areas.

Electric poles were knocked down at multiple locations, and snapped power lines have led to major disruptions in electricity supply. Several houses were damaged after trees fell on them, while strong winds blew away tin roofs, leaving many families homeless and vulnerable.

The worst-affected areas include the Mising villages of Sadar, Chirishatika, Lemchapori, and Baghbari, located along the banks of the Brahmaputra River, where the storm took a particularly destructive turn.

Local people  have urged the police, NDRF and SDRRF to assess the extent of the damage and provide immediate relief and assistance to those affected.
