According to IMD, isolated patches of dense fog are predicted to form over North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.
Digital Desk: For the next five days, numerous states in northern India are under a fog warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In many areas of Punjab, as well as certain areas of Haryana and Chandigarh, heavy to very dense fog is highly likely over the next 24 hours.
According to IMD, isolated patches of dense fog are predicted to form over North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.
IMD predicts that dense to very dense fog will likely be present in several patches over Punjab on December 27.
However, isolated areas of West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh are extremely likely to experience intense fog over the next three days.
Over the next 24 hours, Delhi is set to experience bitterly chilly temperatures.
According to IMD, Chandigarh and Punjab will likely continue to see dense to very dense fog in the early morning hours on December 25. After that, these subdivisions will likely have isolated pockets of dense fog for the next four days.
Additionally, the report stated that "Dense Fog in isolated pockets also very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam and Tripura in early morning hours of December 25; over Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan in the night and morning hours of December 25-26, and thereafter decreases in intensity."
In several locations, the IMD has predicted cold waves and cold day warnings.
Due to heavy fog in the national capital region, 14 trains headed for Delhi were running late on Saturday, according to the Northern Railway. The intense fog continued to cover North India on Friday, reducing visibility.
