Qatar has been accused of paying 7.4 million dollars to opposition players in order to lose the first match.

Amjad Taha, regional director of the British centre in Saudi Arabia, accused Qatar of bribing opposition players worth nearly INR 60 crore ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening Group A match between the host nation and Ecuador on Sunday.
Taha took to Twitter to reveal that his sources were insiders in both teams, and he pleaded with FIFA to take action. However, neither the World Cup 2022 host nation nor the global governing body have issued a statement on the subject.
