Ecuador fans celebrated after Enner Valencia's team defeated Qatar 2-0, chanting for beer to be made available in and around the Arab nation's World Cup stadiums.

Digital Desk: At the end of 90 minutes of football on the first night of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium, there were contrasting emotions. Ecuador fans celebrated after Enner Valencia's team defeated Qatar 2-0, chanting for beer to be made available in and around the Arab nation's World Cup stadiums.

Qatar fans, on the other hand, had to look for ways to drown their sorrows. Many of them left well before the final whistle, leaving many empty seats in the 70,000-seater stadium that had been decked out for the first day of one of the most-anticipated FIFA World Cups in the sport's history.

67,000 fans, mostly Qataris, packed the Al Bayt Stadium to support their national team, which was making its World Cup Finals debut. However, they were in for a letdown as Qatar wilted under the pressure of the big occasion. Qatar became the first host nation in FIFA World Cup history to lose the tournament's opening match.

As the game came to a close, the loud Ecuador fans began chanting, "We want beer!" It was difficult to ignore the sea of yellow that demanded alcohol to celebrate the team's dominant win in the Group A
