Sipajhar: Assam Police on Monday arrested two individuals, suspected to be involved in Gorukhuti firing incident.


The suspected individuals involved in the firing incident have been identified as former President of Bojona Pathar Village Panchayat, Md Asmat Ali Ahmed and President of Sonowa Village Panchayat Md Chand Mamood. Both of the arrested are residents of the Char Chapori area Sipajhar.


The two arrested have been accused of ‘criminal conspiracy, ‘instigating violence’, and ‘mobilizing crowds’ at the behest of extremist organizations Popular Front of India (PFI) and Campus Front of India (CFI), a police report said.

They have been booked under Sections 120(B), 143, 147, 148, 149, 341, 333, 353, 325, 326, and 307 of IPC.


Sources quoted that police are analyzing their call details and messages, and based on their statements and electronic evidence, more people are likely to be arrested.
