Guwahati: Guwahati marked the century in fuel price with the hike of petrol rate Rs. 0.79 paise a litre. On the other hand, diesel raised its rate by Rs. 37 paise per litre from Saturday.

Since the earlier week, the increase in fuel prices marked the century for several other districts in Assam. Amid Covid 19 pandemic, the fuel price hike is burning a hole in the pockets of common people.

Notably, this hike in the price is the 10th hike nationally in the past two weeks. Petrol was sold for Rs 99.15 per litre in Guwahati earlier this week. Whereas in Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh, it was Rs. 100 and Rs. 101 per litre.

Congress leader Debabrata Saikia, in the Assam legislative assembly, stated, "This government has failed to control the price hike in fuel. Includig, in LPG cylinders and kitchen essentials. The BJP government is least concerned about the poor section of society."

He added, "Prices of LPG and fuel have spiked steadily. Congress has been continuously raising its voice upon the price inflation and staging demonstrations."

In Assam, the petrol price hiked by Rs 12.84 in the last 12 months. The rise in prices marks serious trouble for the common individuals of the society.
