Digital Desk: For the 78th day in a row, fuel prices in metro cities stayed steady on Saturday, January 22, 2022.Since the commencement of daily rate revision in June 2017, this is the second-longest price standstill. When the country was under a national lockdown from March 17 to June 6, 2020, the country's fuel prices were frozen for 82 days. The Delhi government decreased the value-added tax on gasoline from 30% to 19.40% earlier this month. Petrol prices in the national capital have been lowered by 8.56 cents per litre as a result of this. Petrol is sold for 109.98 a litre in Mumbai, while diesel is supplied for 94.14 per litre. Mumbai continues to have the highest fuel prices among metro cities. In Mumbai petrol price stands at Rs.109.98 and diesel at Rs.94.14. In Chennai, petrol price stands at Rs.101.40 and diesel at Rs.91.43. In Kolkata, petrol price stands at Rs.104.68 and diesel at Rs.89.79. In Hyderabad, petrol price stands at Rs.108.20 and diesel at Rs.94.62. In Bengaluru, petrol price stands at Rs.100.58 and diesel at Rs.85.01. In Guwahati, petrol price stands at Rs.94.58 and diesel at Rs.81.41. State-run oil refineries such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum adjust fuel prices on a daily basis, taking into account international crude oil prices and rupee-dollar exchange rates. Every day at 6 a.m., any adjustments in gasoline and diesel prices take effect. Oil prices fell globally after reaching seven-year highs last week, as investors profited from the surge due to an increase in US crude and fuel stockpiles. Brent crude futures fell $2.46 to $85.92 a barrel, or 2.8 percent. The contract had previously dropped by as much as 3%, the biggest since December 20. The global benchmark touched $89.50 a barrel on Thursday, its highest since October 2014.
