Golaghat: In view of the covid-19 outbreak situation in Golaghat, the district administration has resolved to close the weekly cattle markets in the district for two weeks, the official report said.

An order issued by the district administration on Monday stated that due to the rise in covid cases in the district, the district administration has decided to close the cattle market for two weeks.

The order reads, “..it is observed that in the weekly cattle markets of the district large numbers of people congregate and hereby increases the possibility of spread of COVID-19 and the district is witnessing a rise in COVID cases. …there is report of a cattle disease spreading in neighboring state. Therefore, the undersigned orders the temporary closure of all the weekly cattle markets of the district vide the powers conferred in the Disaster Management Act, 2005.” said the order.

Meanwhile, a committee has been instituted to scrutinize the health status of humans and cattle.

The committee includes the Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, Golaghat, Addl. Deputy Commissioner (Magistracy), Joint Director of Health Services, Golaghat, District Veterinary Officer and representative of SDO(C) of Dhansiri / Bokakhat subdivision.

Further, the order added that the committee would submit their report within fifteen days and until that time, this prohibitory order will be in force.
