In the district, 20,231 individuals were impacted by the floods that began on June 15.
Digital Desk: The heavy rainfall in Assam this time caused problems like Water-logging, flooding, and traffic fulmination in many parts of Guwahati earlier in June.
Water is above the knee-length on all major roads throughout the city, causing severe road damage.
Water logging and flash floods were reported in major areas such as Hatigaon, Chandmari, Dr. B Barooah Road, Nabin Nagar, Anil Nagar, Hengrabari, Rukmini Gaon, Ghoramara, and many other areas.
After the devastating flash floods were contained, reports of heavy road damage became widespread in many areas; Guwahati's main roads are also in dilapidation. People are experiencing traffic congestion due to poorly maintained roads, and flooding has now become a major threat to Guwahati's roads.
According to a senior Public Works Department (PWD) official, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had appointed four senior officials to conduct an overall inspection. The reports will be presented to the state's CM, and road construction will begin as soon as the CM examines the report and gives the order to make the necessary decisions.
Debajit Bhuyan, PWD Chief Engineer, expressed his views on flood-damaged roads and assured the reconstruction of B Barooah road; when asked about the Bishnujyoti road in Hatigaon, he stated that an extra drain would be a proper solution to the massive water logging in Hatigaon.
Bhuyan announced the formation of a specialized team to conduct a thorough inspection of the flood-damaged roads.
