Digital Desk: A tragic incident unfolded on the India-Bhutan border in Tamulpur as a wild elephant attacked and claimed the life of a man, leaving several others injured.
The deceased has been identified as Birsa Munda (52), a resident of Paharpur village.
The fatal attack occurred on Wednesday morning, while Birsa Munda was working in the fields.
A wild elephant charged at him, tragically trampling him to death on the spot.
Local authorities, including officials from the forest department and police, promptly arrived at the scene to manage the situation.
In addition to the fatality, four other villagers, including a child, sustained serious injuries during the attack.
The injured individuals have been identified as Andrech Tudu (29), Binali Soren (26), Mikhael Tudu (10), and Albin Murmu.
Among them, Mikhael Tudu, who is reported to be in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment.
The tragic event underscores the ongoing human-elephant conflict in the region, raising concerns about the safety of villagers living near wildlife habitats.
