Digital Desk: India received its first-ever export order for BrahMos missiles after the Philippines’ Defense Ministry inked a USD 374 million contract with the BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd (BAPL) to supply an unspecified number of missiles, according to military sources. BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India and Russia, manufactures the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, which can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms. According to military officials, the USD 374 million contract is to supply shore-based anti-ship BrahMos missile to the Philippine Navy. “The BAPL (BrahMos Aerospace) signed a contract with the Department of National Defense of the Republic of Philippines on January 28, 2022, to supply shore-based anti-ship missiles system to the Philippines.” the Defence Ministry stated in a statement. “The BAPL (BrahMos Aerospace) is a Defence Research and Development Organization joint venture corporation. The contract is a significant step forward in the Indian government’s strategy of encouraging responsible defence exports.” the statement added.   Reportedly, at Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, India has already deployed a large number of Brahmos missiles and other vital assets in numerous crucial positions along the Line of Actual Control with China.
