Digital Desk: In the Singapore Open 2022 final on Sunday, China's Wang Zhiyi was thoroughly defeated by India's top badminton player, PV Sindhu


In the summit match, the Indian superstar defeated Zhiyi 21-9 11-21 21-15.


Sindhu is the third Indian overall and the second Indian woman to win the Singapore Open. 




In the past, the titles for the women's and men's singles competitions have been won by Saina Nehwal (2010) and B Sai Praneeth (2017), respectively.


Sindhu said with a wide grin, "Many thanks to everyone who has been encouraging. "Singapore is a nice city; it's nice to be here."



"It's always nice to win the finals after such a long time." Getting this title today means a lot to me because it boosts my confidence and will undoubtedly propel me to the next level. "Sindhu expressed her delight at winning the championship.


"The entire tournament has been excellent. However, this is just the beginning, and I'm looking forward to unwinding before returning to the CWG, "said Sindhu in a post-match interview.


She is the second Indian woman to win the Singapore Open, 12 years after Saina Nehwal.
