Digital Desk: The annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas, known as the Amarnath Yatra, will be suspended temporarily from August 23.

The suspension is due to a decrease in the number of pilgrims and the need to restore the tracks leading to the Amarnath cave.

On August 31, the yatra's culmination will be marked by the Chari Mubarak, Lord Shiva's sacred mace, which will still be carried over the customary Pahalgam path.

The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is currently repairing any issues along the Yatra routes that require fixing. As a result, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board's officials advised against travel on either of the trails going to the Holy Cave.

On August 31, the Chari Mubarak (holy Mace) will complete the Yatra by traveling via the customary Pahalgam route.

A stunning number of more than 440,000 pilgrims have already participated in this year's yatra. The Shri Amarnathji Yatra (SANJY)-2023, which lasted 62 days and started from both the Pahalgam route in the Anantnag district and Baltal in the Ganderbal district, got underway on July 1.
