Digital Desk: Several vehicles got stuck on National Highway 54E near Kelolo village in Assam's Dima Hasao district on Friday following a major landslide in the area.

Following a heavy rainfall over the past few days, a major landslide has been recorded in the hill district. Due to which several sections of the road have been damaged.


After the incident, Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed of the Dima Hasao district and Assistant Commissioner Iboun Teron headed to the site to assess the situation and issue a stern order to the highway authority to clear the debris as soon as possible.


"During the rainy season last year, a similar situation occurred. NHAI informed me that the previous maintenance contract had been terminated and floated a new contract. I request that NHAI and the company keep men and machines away from vulnerable areas. I'll assess the situation to ensure that things are moving in the correct path, and we won't take anything for granted, "Nazreen Ahmed, the DC of the Dima Hasao district, stated.


Meanwhile, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the district administration are working to clear the debris and clear the route.
