Aaftab, 28, allegedly chopped up Shraddha's body into 35 pieces and stored them in a 300-litre refrigerator at his home in Mehrauli, south Delhi, for weeks before disposing of the parts across the city over several days.

Digital Desk: In a new development in the murder of Shraddha Walkar, the Delhi Police have obtained an audio recording in which the accused, Aaftab Poonawala, can be heard fighting with her.

The police regard the video as "significant evidence" that will help them figure out what motivated the heinous murder.

Aaftab, 28, allegedly chopped up Shraddha's body into 35 pieces and stored them in a 300-litre refrigerator at his home in Mehrauli, south Delhi, for weeks before disposing of the parts across the city over several days.

Following a Delhi court order, a forensics team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) retrieved Aaftab's voice sample today. The authorities will compare the voice sample to the newly obtained audio tape in order to achieve new discoveries in the case.

The court also prolonged Aaftab's judicial custody by 14 days on Friday. He's been in judicial detention since November 26. Aaftab testified in court through video conference.

Despite Aaftab's lawyer's objections to the court's ruling, the court stated that agreement of an accused is only required for tests such as narco analysis, brain mapping, and polygraph

"True, a fair trial is the right of an accused, but a fair inquiry is also essential in the greater public interest because the offence cannot escape and crime cannot go unreported simply because the accused is unwilling to assist in the investigation. As a result, the plea filed by the IO (investigative officer) seeking permission for the accused's voice sampling test is granted "As per news agency PTI, Metropolitan Magistrate Vijayshree Rathore.

The CBI's Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in the national capital will conduct the voice sampling test.
