PV Sindhu advanced to the Malaysia Masters quarterfinals with a straight-game victory over China's Zhang Yi Man.


Digital Desk: Indian badminton champion PV Sindhu upgraded to the Malaysia Masters quarterfinals with a straight-game triumph over China's Zhang Yi Man on Thursday. 


The two-time Olympic medalist seeded seventh, defeated world number 32 Yi Man in the women's singles second round in just 28 minutes.


However, the former World Champion, currently ranked seventh in the world, will face her nemesis Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the last eight.


Sindhu has a dismal 5-16 head-to-head record against the world No. 2, who also defeated Sindhu in the Malaysia Open quarterfinals last week.


In the men's singles, B Sai Praneeth lost 14-21 17-21 in 42 minutes to Li She Feng of China.


HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap will take the court later in the day.
