The Manipur administration denies any allegations of Hindi films being released in the state...

Digital Desk: The Manipur governance refuses any allegations of Hindi films being distributed in the state after a 20-year hiatus.

The DIPR claimed in a release that, while Hindi films are not prohibited in the state, they are not regularly exhibited in cinemas, which is outside the authority of the government.

"Hindi films are still shown daily on various satellite and television channels. In addition, the Hindi film 'Rocketry: The Nambi Effect' was screened on August 20, 2022, in the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society in front of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, his Council of Ministers, MLAs, and several Government officials," cited as written in the statement.

Furthermore, the press statement advised the media to abstain from publishing such tales to avoid any confusion or false narratives about the actual events taking place in Manipur.

The remark came after news emerged that cinema had returned to strife-torn Manipur after more than 20 years when a Bollywood film about surgical strikes against Pakistan was exhibited at a makeshift open-air theatre in Churachandpur on Tuesday.

A massive crowd turned out to see Vicky Kaushal Starrer's "Uri: The Surgical Strike" at Rengkai (Lamka).

On Tuesday, a Hindi film was shown in Manipur, a state in northeastern India. The film was shown at Rengkai's Hmar Students' Association (HSA) campus in the state's worst-affected Churachandpur region.

The HSA, a tribal student body in Manipur, decided to show a Hindi film.
