Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had apprehended a 22-year-old Pune man accused of being the mastermind behind the kidnapping and murder of two teenagers in Manipur.

Paolunmang was taken into custody by a CBI special investigation team on Wednesday in Pune and transported to Guwahati, Assam. Later, he was taken to court, and the CBI granted custody of him until October 16.

According to authorities, the CBI believes Paolunmang is the mastermind behind the case that has sparked outrage across the country.

In the Churachandpur district of Manipur, the CBI detained two men, Paominlun Haokip and Smalsawm Haokip, as well as two women, Lhingneichong Baitekuki and Tinneilhing Henthang on October 1, who were also sent to Guwahati.

On July 6, the two youths went missing. On September 25, images of their bodies surfaced on social media, sparking student protests in Imphal, the capital of Manipur.
