Digital Desk: On Monday, a senior official from Oman's foreign ministry met with Indian ambassador Amit Narang to express his displeasure with contentious remarks made by past BJP spokespersons about Prophet Mohammed, claiming that such remarks are detrimental to peaceful coexistence.

At least five Arab countries have issued official protests against India, and Pakistan and Afghanistan responded angrily to Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal's remarks on Monday. Anger has been expressed on social media, and some Arab countries have called for a boycott of Indian goods. At home, it has sparked anti-Modi protests in several regions of the country.

With countries such as Kuwait, Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan expressing their displeasure, the BJP released a statement stating that it respects all religions and vehemently condemns insults to religious figures.

The BJP suspended Nupur Sharma, its national spokeswoman, and fired Naveen Kumar Jindal, its Delhi media head, on Sunday, as the issue over their remarks against the Prophet erupted into protests from Muslim countries.
