Digital Desk: In the 89th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday while addressing the nation highlighted startups that have become unicorns. 
“On the 5th of this month, the number of unicorns in the country reached the 100 mark," Prime Minister Modi stated. "You know, a unicorn that is, a startup worth at least 7,000 crores, PM said. He added that these unicorns are worth more than $ 330 billion, or more than Rs 25 lakh crore, in total. This is unquestionably a source of pride for every Indian.

Last year, 44 unicorns were created in 3-4 months, while this year, 14 unicorns were created in 3-4 months.

Prime Minister Modi stated that the nation will be amazed to know that 44 of our total unicorns were created last year. Not only that, but 14 new unicorns were created in the first three months of this year. This means that, despite the global pandemic, our startups have continued to create wealth and value during this time. The average yearly growth rate of Indian unicorns is higher than United States, the United Kingdom, and many other countries."

Moreover, the Prime Minister said that nowadays India’s startup ecosystem is not limited to big cities only, but entrepreneurs are emerging from small towns and cities too. The development shows that those who has innovative ideas in India can create wealth.
