Tinsukia: Acting on a tip off, the Tinsukia police intercepted one Tata Nixon vehicle bearing registration no. AS03Z 7172, doubted to be transporting Heroin.

On seeing the police party approaching the car, both the inmates of the vehicle tried to escape.

The police gave a chase and had to resort to firing to stop them. Both of the drug peddlers were injured on their legs and shifted to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for treatment.

So far 10 packets of suspected Heroin has been recovered from the vehicle. Follow up action is on.

The injured drug dealers have been identified as - Amar Das (35) and Upen Mili (36). They generally reside in Dimapur and were heading towards Roing, Arunachal Pradesh today.
