Rahul Dravid chose not to accept the extra Rs 2.5 crore, instead requesting the BCCI to distribute the amount equally among the support staff, including bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore.

Digital Desk: Rahul Dravid, the coach of the Indian cricket team that won the T20 World Cup 2024, has declined an additional Rs 2.5 crore bonus offered by the BCCI. The BCCI had announced a reward of Rs 125 crore for the team and support staff, with Dravid and the squad members receiving Rs 5 crore each, and support staff allotted Rs 2.5 crore each.

Selectors and other traveling members were given Rs 1 crore each.

In a gesture of solidarity, Rahul Dravid chose not to accept the extra Rs 2.5 crore, instead requesting the BCCI to distribute the amount equally among the support staff, including bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore.

A source from BCCI, quoted by Hindustan Times, stated, "Rahul wanted the same bonus money (Rs 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiment."

This is not the first time Rahul Dravid has displayed such generosity. During the U-19 World Cup in 2018, when he was the head coach, Dravid requested the BCCI to distribute the rewards equally among the team members, despite being offered a higher amount himself.

Following the T20 World Cup victory, Rahul Dravid has parted ways with Team India. The BCCI has appointed former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of India.
