Digital Desk: Tragedy struck Banglabari in Gossaigaon as two minor girls drowned while fishing in the Madati river.


The incident occurred in the afternoon when the girls, accompanied by other children from the village, were swept away while bathing in the river.


Local villagers and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team managed to recover the body of 9-year-old Isha Mardi, daughter of Samuel Mardi.


Her body has been sent to Kokrajhar for a post-mortem examination.


Search efforts continue for the second victim, 6-year-old Beauty Mardi, daughter of Ratan Mardi, who remains missing.


Police from the Tulsibil police outpost and the SDRF are currently on-site, conducting an intensive search operation to locate the child.
