Digital Desk: A video footage released by the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) makes rounds over social media platforms. The footage uploaded by the GDI team showed that a huge quantity of liquor was poured into the Kabul canal.

The team seized a huge quantity of liquor during a raid in the capital. "Muslims have to especially refrain from making and delivering alcohol," a religious leader remarked in the footage the agency posted on Twitter on Sunday.

However, the agency has not provided any clear information regarding the raid and when it was conducted. The statement released by the agency only notified the team arrested three dealers throughout the operation for dealing with liquor.

According to the earlier Western-backed regime in Afghanistan, selling and consuming alcohol was banned. However, with the new regime of Taliban rule and their known austere brand of Islam, the rules became more stringent.

Since the Islamists seized control on August 15, 2021, the frequency of raids, including drug addicts, has risen. The Taliban government's Ministry for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has issued various guidelines limiting women's privileges.
