The 19-year-old Italian secured his second consecutive victory, underlining his rising dominance in the sport
Digital Desk: Kimi Antonelli delivered a sensational performance at the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, becoming the first teenager in history to win two Grands Prix and also the youngest to lead the Formula One World Championship.
The 19-year-old Italian secured his second consecutive victory, underlining his rising dominance in the sport. Starting from pole position, Antonelli recovered from a poor start to take the chequered flag at Suzuka, finishing ahead of Oscar Piastri of McLaren and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
Mercedes driver George Russell, who had entered the race as the championship leader, finished fourth.
Reacting to his victory, Antonelli expressed his excitement over team radio, saying, “The pace was unbelievable today,” as he celebrated crossing the finish line.
With this win, Antonelli now leads the championship standings after three races, building on his maiden Grand Prix victory in China just two weeks ago.
