The same agency searched 49 locations connected to former AIADMK minister Kamaraj in Tamil Nadu in July and found disproportionate assets worth Rs. 58 crores associated with him. Raids were being carried out in Chennai, Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Tiruchirappalli.

Digital Desk: The former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) minister KPP Baskar's home and the homes of his family members have been searched by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) for the possession of disproportionate assets.

According to reports, Baskar is close with Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the AIADMK's interim general secretary and the current leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

There were 26 places where searches were conducted. The agency claims that by Rs. 4.72 crore, his assets were out of proportion to his income.

One each in Madurai and Tiruppur, and 24 in Namakkal, made up the 26 places.

The former minister, his son, and three other people were accused of amassing a fortune in an unreasonable manner by the DVAC.

According to the FIR, "Between 2011 and 2021, Kamaraj, his sons and associates accumulated wealth to the tune of Rs 58,84,50,749 (54.84 crores), and their likely savings could be Rs 40 lakhs." The total amount of assets that Kamaraj and his cronies have disproportionately obtained is 58,44,38,252 (about 54.44 crores). "

Prior to that, in March of this year, raids were conducted at the Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore, home of former AIADMK minister SP Velumani on suspicion of corruption.
