Digital Desk: A meeting of a high-level committee was convened in which Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma were also present to find out the reasons behind the collapse of the dome of the Meghalaya Assembly building.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mukul Sangma stated that it was decided in the high level committee meeting that a third party would be appointed to investigate the causes of the dome's collapse.But it is also necessary to keep in mind that the investigation should be done in full time. And do not put any kind of pressure on them to complete the investigation as soon as possible. And the third party to be appointed should be completely independent. 

At the same time, Mukul also said that the entire project should be investigated in depth, in which the tendering process should also be investigated to determine whether the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines were taken care of at the time of allotment of tenders.

A day after the steel dome of the under-construction Assembly building in Meghalaya collapsed, Speaker Metba Lyngdoh on Monday said a third-party probe would be launched to ascertain the cause of the incident. Closed room meeting with Chief Engineer of Construction Department (PWD).

The PWD is looking after the construction works of the Vidhan Sabha building to be constructed at a cost of Rs 177.7 crore.
