70-year-old Bordoloi’s body was found hanging from a tree in the backyard of his resort at Hatimura in the Sonapur area on Guwahati outskirts.

Digital Desk: In a sensational incident, Guwahati-based entrepreneur and owner of George’s Retreat, George Bordoloi, commited suicide on May 24 and has accused Vice-chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University father Stephen Mavely of abetting his suicide in a note which he has left behind.

Reportedly, the Sonapur police detained Stephen Mavely for interrogation. It is to be mentioned that father Mavely had earlier accused Bordoloi and his son of destroying the property of Don Bosco University and even lodged an FIR against the duo.

Bordoloi took the extreme step after he could not tolerate the allegation levelled against him, which he said was false in his suicide note.

70-year-old Bordoloi’s body was found hanging from a tree in the backyard of his resort at Hatimura in the Sonapur area on Guwahati outskirts.

Bordoloi was the spearhead of the dhaba and resort industry in Sonapur. His first venture was a dhaba in Patarkuchi back in the year 1980, for which he became a role model for many youngsters in the area.

Bordoloi had maintained good relations with Congress for a long time but later joined the BJP.

His body has been sent to Guwahati Medical College (GMC) for post-mortem, the results of which are awaited.

The reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, a Police official said.
