According to a PTI report, Dipak Kar has been under pressure to quit since Bhattacharjee's defeat and suspicions of sabotage. On Saturday, he resigned from his position.

Digital Desk: Dipak Kar, the BJP Mandal president of Tripura's Banamalipur Assembly constituency, resigned from his position on Saturday. This comes amid allegations that Dipak Kar had a role in the defeat of state party president Rajib Bhattacharjee in the recent Assembly elections.

The Banamalipur Assembly constituency is considered a BJP stronghold, and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb won it in 2018 after defeating Congress nominee Gopal Chandra Roy.

In the 2023 election, BJP candidate Rajib Bhattacharjee was defeated by Congress candidate Gopal Chandra Roy by 1,369 votes.

According to a PTI report, Dipak Kar has been under pressure to quit since Bhattacharjee's defeat and suspicions of sabotage. On Saturday, he resigned from his position.

"I have heard that Banamalipur Mandal president Dipak Kar has resigned but has not yet received his resignation letter," Bhattacharjee told PTI.

Dipak Kar joined the BJP in 2018 and quickly rose to the position of Mandal president.
