  • US Labels Lashkar Proxy TRF as 'Terrorist' Organization Following Kashmir Attack

Digital Desk: The United States has designated 'The Resistance Front' (TRF), a proxy of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as a global terror organisation.

The decision comes after TRF's direct involvement in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran Valley.

Citing the organisation's direct role in the attack, the US has formally designated TRF as a foreign terrorist entity and a specially designated global terrorist entity.

Recognising TRF's links to LeT and Pakistan Army, a US official talked about General Asim Munir's role and acknowledged India's calibrated military response through 'Operation Sindoor', which was aimed at tearing down terror launchpads in Pakistan.

TRF carried out terror attacks in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of 26 people in a popular tourist destination in J&K.

This terror outfit has been responsible for several attacks across Jammu and Kashmir, including Keran, Handwara, Sopore, Shopian, Anantnag, and Reasi.

The Indian government had already designated TRF as a terror organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in January 2023.

TRF is currently led by designated terrorist Sheikh Sajjad Gul, who carries a Rs 10 lakh bounty from the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Gul was reportedly involved in the conspiracy to assassinate renowned Kashmiri journalist Shujaat Bukhari in 2018.

Through its digital media platform 'Kashmir Fight', TRF indulges in anti-India propaganda, recruitment drives, and also claims responsibility for all the attacks.
