Digital Desk: Assam Minister Ranjeet Kumar Das expressed great satisfaction and joy following Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma's remarks regarding the Vrindavani Vastra. Speaking in Howly, Barpeta, Das shared his hope that the historic textile could be brought to Assam by 2027.

According to the minister, CM Sarma will travel to London to sign an MoU with the British Museum to facilitate the return of the Vrindavani Vastra.

Subsequently, an advanced museum will also be constructed in Guwahati based on the model provided by the British Museum authorities. Land has already been selected in Khanapara, Guwahati, for the construction of the museum to house the silk textile.

Once the museum is completed within a year, the immortal creation of Srimanta Sankardeva, the Vrindavani Vastra, can be brought to Assam by 2027.

The Vastra will be displayed in Assam for 18 months, allowing people to view it during this period.

It is noteworthy that, during his tenure as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Ranjeet Kumar Das took steps to bring the Vrindavani Vastra, preserved at the British Museum, to Assam.

The process of bringing the Vastra to Assam has already progressed positively through collaboration between the Assam Government and the Government of India.

Following CM Sarma's announcement about the arrival of the Vrindavani Vastra, Minister Das expressed his satisfaction and explained how Srimanta Sankardeva, along with Mathuradas Burha Ata and 12 artisans, prepared the Vrindavani Vastra based on the interests of Koch King Naranarayana.

He added that if this initiative by the Assam Government succeeds, the people of the state will get an opportunity to witness the unparalleled creation of Sankardeva.

Minister Ranjeet Kumar Das also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his efforts to bring back the historic textile.
