Guwahati: In another success of the Assam government’s war against drugs, heroin worth Rs. 4 crores was seized at Byrnihat near Guwahati. 

Reportedly, in a joint operation led by the Joint Commissioner of Police, Partha Mahanta intercepted a truck (MN 07C4292) and seized about half a kilogram of heroin worth Rs. 4 crores. 

Additionally, the police arrested drug peddlers identified as Ithemcha Muslam and Ramesh Kr. Chetri of Manipur and receiver Nongthou.

Taking to Twitter, Guwahati police said, “Guwahati & Kamrup Police under the guidance of JCP Partha Mahanta intercepted a truck near Byrnihat & seized Half a Kg of Heroin valued at ₹4 crores. Ithemcha Muslam & Ramesh Chetri of Manipur & receiver Nongthou were detained. The truck & an Alto were also seized.”

As per police reports, acting on a special input, the police laid an operation and seized the contrabands from a hidden cabinet inside the truck. 

Meanwhile, the truck and an Alto have also been seized.
