Digital Desk: The era is changing, and in this changing world, having a girl child is not grief. In a bid to point this out, a grandmother gifted her granddaughter land on Mars.

Shikha Haldar, who is a resident of Diamond Harbor in South 24 Parganas, is a lawyer in the Diamond Harbor Civil Court. She was overjoyed after becoming a grandmother of a granddaughter and bought an acre of land on Mars for the baby girl as a gift during the child's rice ceremony.

The grandmother believed Lakshmi has come home as she has a granddaughter.


When she was asked why chose such a unique gift, Haldar said that from the very beginning she wanted to walk against the same boring path. The grandmother wanted to gift something beyond giving normal gifts such as gold or diamonds.

Thoughtfully, she decided to buy land on Mars. However, the reason for buying on Mars is the granddaughter was born on Tuesday. The grandmother contacted the concerned place to buy it, and she got a one-acre plot of land for around 1 lakh rupees. She further said that NASA will send a 'Chip' to Mars in the name of Debangshree, the baby girl.


Moreover, the application for the same was granted after three months. She received the documents on February 24 and kept the matter secret until June 12. At the rice ceremony, she made it public.

Debayan and Piyali, the son and daughter-in-law of the woman were overwhelmed by this gift.
