Digital Desk: A Muslim man in Bihar's Siwan district died in a hospital after being brutally thrashed by a mob on suspicion of carrying beef on Tuesday night.

Naseem Qureshi aged 56 years, a resident of Hasanpur village, was on his way with his nephew Firoz Ahmed Qureshi to meet some acquaintances when they were allegedly stopped by a mob in Jogia village, about 110 kilometres northwest of Patna, according to Saran Superintendent of Police Gaurav Mangla.

The police stated that they were nabbed by villagers near a mosque. While Firoz Qureshi escaped, Nazeem Qureshi was thrashed with wooden sticks by the mob. As per police, Mr Qureshi was handed over to police in Rasulpur village by the mob, after which he was rushed to a hospital but died during treatment.

Reportedly, The police are still looking into whether they were carrying beef or not. Sushil Singh, the local sarpanch, and two others, Ravi Sah and Ujwal Sharma, were arrested for mob lynching. Police are looking for two more men who were mentioned in the police complaint filed by the nephew, Firoz Ahmed Qureshi.
