Digital Desk: Gajendra, a buffalo, is the newest celebrity in Maharashtra’s Sangli district. The buffalo that weighs one and a half tones cost Rs 80 lakhs.
Gajendra has been brought from Mangsuli village by his owner Vilas Naik to an exhibition organized by farmers’ union Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathan in Tasgaon.
Since then, the full-grown buffalo has become the talk of the town due to its magnificent size that indicates good genes, which helps in healthy progeny.

Vilas Naik claimed that Gajendra drinks 15 liters of milk daily, besides grass and sugarcane, four times a day.
Mahesh Kharade, the district head of Maharashtra-based farmers’ union Swabhimani Shetkari Sangathan, said, “This buffalo has become our agricultural pride. It costs lakhs of rupees because he will reproduce good-quality buffaloes. Inspired by Gajendra, the farmers of our village are beginning to implement practices to rear healthy animals, so they get a new source of good income.”
It is necessary to take such initiative to develop the economic condition of the farmers, he added.
