Digital Desk: On Monday, India's biennial Aero-India aerospace exhibition will get underway to promote the nation as a significant centre for the production of military aircraft, equipment, and avionics.

The five-day exhibition will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the complex of the Yalahanka Air Force station outside of Bengaluru.

At Aero-India, branded as Asia's largest aerospace exhibition, 809 defence businesses and delegates from 98 nations are exhibiting, according to officials.

Aero India, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, will catalyze the Indian aerospace industry's continued expansion and will help the nation achieve its goal of becoming self-sufficient in the production of weapons systems.

"I have faith that Bengaluru will become a major aerospace centre on the international stage. Our goal is to establish a thriving defence manufacturing industry, " he added.
Aero India's current iteration, according to Singh, will be significantly larger than any previous iterations.

Giridhar Aramane, the defence secretary, responded to a query by saying that the government is completely backing the Tejas Mark II and Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programmes (AMCA).

"Tejas Mark II and the AMCA will take place," he said.
