Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced good news for paper mills employees. The news came after a cabinet meeting held in Dhemaji on Thursday.
The Assam Cabinet has approved 700 crores for the paper mills employees. This decision was taken to solve the pains of the employees of the two paper mills in Assam.
Assam CM Sarma said, "A total of Rs 700 crore has been approved. Of the total Rs 700 crore, Rs 570 crore has been approved for HPCL employees as part of a relief package."
Sarma further added that the Assam government would acquire the assets of the two paper mills.

As per an earlier report made by the Assam Chief Minister, the salaries of the Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (HPCL) employees, which have remained pending for a long time, will be resolved by the state government.
On Wednesday, chief minister Sarma was occupied in discussion with the employees and workers of the paper mills in his office.
In October 2015, the Cachar Paper Mill had discontinued functioning. Furthermore, the Nagaon paper mill had ceased functioning in March 2017.
The employees of the two paper mills have been surviving without getting their wages for the last 55 months. In the last two terms, all hopes for the revival of the paper mills by the BJP-government throughout its election campaigns have been in vain.
Notably, around 93 employees of the paper mills have died so far in the last 58 months.
